S.T.E.A.M. MAKERSPACE LIBRARY
Expanding Community Engagement Through the S.T.E.A.M. Makerspace Library
Despite being easily accessible through local transit, this area has limited "third places" that offer the community opportunities for engagement and personal development.
The core of this project began with the word "play." The idea has expanded into the S.T.E.A.M. Makerspace Library (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
The makerspace offers traditional prototyping equipment like 3D printers and also provides members access to sewing machines and materials so that they can learn about and play with textiles. Being a community-driven space, all materials are received through a textile donation program run by the library
Located in the commercial centre of Barrhaven, the library is a space that encourages individuals to learn, create, and grow through play, experimentation, and collaboration.
